Offered as a pair, rare, exquisite portraits of brother and sister, skillfully handpainted in 1881 by "F. A. Francis, NY." Both plates are marked by impression, "Wedgwood WG," and both are signed on the front by the artist, the girl also being dated. Slightly larger than his sister, the boy's charger is a generous 15" diameter, while the girl's charger is nearly 14" diameter. Both are in excellent undamaged condition. Rare find in this glazed terra-cotta piece created during the early years of the factory of Rasmus Peter Ipsen (1815-1860), with the mark of 1850-1870.
