Antique, porcelain Small, Serving Bowl, rectangular, with indented, rounded corners; Charles Field Haviland, Limoges, France; marks of 1882-1890. Beautifully handpainted in an orange, brown, and yellow floral design. Scattered raised enameling throughout; two gilded interior "handles" in art deco, shield & leaf motif. 10" x 6.25" x 1.375" (25.4 x 15.87 x 3.49 cm) tall. Slight rubbing to the gilding. Lovely, small porcelain sculpture, bust, of Josephine Bonaparte, first wife of Napoleon, and Empress of the French. The mark on the reverse of this piece -- the gold anchor of Chelsea -- coupled with the gold, porcelain origin mark of "Germany," on the base, indicates to us that this 18th Century Chelsea mark of England, is forged, or "borrowed," as was often the case in the 19th century.
