Early 20th Century Florence, Italy, Pietra dura (inlay of hardstones) with a ground of black slate, an exquisite bird made of lapis lazuli, malachite, quartz, granite, and others. Light wood box is covered in mottled green leather, embossed with gold, brass hinge. Unusual pair of 19th Century Art Glass Vases, probably English, Stevens & Williams. A beautiful pattern of dotted "quilting" runs the entire length of the vases. The inner glass is a Deep Cranberry at the rim, gradually fading to Pale Pink. Difficult to see in the photos, is an outer casing of crystal over the cranberry. A pair of late 19th, early 20th Century porcelain urns, decorated in Austria by Josef Riedl (period of 1890-1918). While the paintings on these urns are signed "Kauffmann," alluding to Angelica Kauffmann (1741-1807), they are "after" this famous 18th Century Swiss artist, and were actually painted by, or under the direction of Josef Riedl. This is one of the most lovely patterns from that era, incorporating bluebells, urns, leaves, and lace within the three etched cartouche designs around the bowl. Exquisite 19th Century Faceted, Ormolu, Gold-plated Metal, Jeweled Scent Bottle, Made in Austria (see label) of Austrian Amethyst crystal, and Austrian crystal jewels. The largest jewel, round, in center front, is flanked on both sides by cornucopias which are filled with fruit; emerging from behind each, is a ferocious, fanciful creature that most resembles a lion.
