Limited Historical series, french enamel on copper, "The Goldrush 1848, No. 15/100," beautifully framed in high-gloss black, over gesso over wood; rich colored enamels on bright copper; by Master Enameler, Pierre Bonnet, signed and dated lower front, original ink signature on back label. Rare and amazing antique Chatelaine made completely by hand, with four original miniature oval paintings on wafer thin ivory or bone disks, under beveled glass. Decorative mounts are composed of hand-formed filigree coils and spirals. We find no marks on the metal, although it is probably Sterling Silver. Accompanying the chatelaine within its velvet- and silk-lined leather case, is a papyrus text, written in Pali script, usually the literary and scholarly written language of Buddhist monks.
