Hobart Reimann (1897-1986) was, first, a Professor of Medicine, and secondly, a painter. This painting in pastels is signed lower right, "Caravanserai Kabul, 1920, H. Reimann." The doctor traveled extensively, teaching and lecturing on medicine in several countries, and presumably painting and sketching as he went. Pastel by Sir George Clausen (1852-1944) England, titled "Ploughing the Field," ("plowing" would be the American spelling). Clausen often created quick studies in preparation for finished works.
