Hiao-Tsiun Ma Yo Yo Ma's Father Original Brush Painting
Oriental Brush Painting, original work by Dr. Te Ma (Hiao-Tsiun Ma) (1906 Shanghai, China - 1991 U.S), Violinist, Conductor, Composer, Teacher, and father to the world renowned Cellist, Yo-Yo Ma. Dr. Ma was his son's first teacher, in Paris, where Yo-Yo was born. He moved the family to New York in order to further his son's career. In 1962, Dr. Ma founded the ongoing Children's Orchestra Society, in New York, which offers young, promising music students the opportunity to meet, hear, and study with noted musicians. In one interview with Yo-Yo, he mentions that his father, "...loved painting...." This lovely piece, of long tailed goldfish, was a private gift to friends of Dr. Ma, on the occasion of their 50th Anniversary, in the Chicago area, as is documented on the reverse. Image is 6" x 8.75", matted and framed to 11" x 13.5". Excellent condition. The artist's signature, via his chop, appears below the verse, in red. $14 US Shipping.
