8 porcelain Pot de Cremes, or covered Bonbonnaires, by the porcelain of Grass Snake, or "Porcelaine Couleuvre." (We include a matching 9th set, as an extra with your purchase, at no additional charge.) Porcelaine Couleuvre (porcelain of Grass Snake--the name of the area) was in operation from 1788 - 1997, and developed international fame in the 1930s, when they began concentration on art and luxury; and were known for their trademark gold-decorated, white porcelain. We are unable to find a record of marks for the company, but based on the company history, place these around that time frame. They were made exclusively for Neiman-Marcus Stores, which was founded in 1907, with a philosophy of providing the finest of luxury wares to its customers. These sets were certainly luxury pieces, with each having three female masks around the bowl, a wreath finial on the lid, and three paw feet at the base. 5.75" (14.60 cm) tall, 4" (10.16 cm) diameter. All in excellent condition. c. 1920-1940. $30 US Shipping. |
