| Early 20th Century Florence, Italy, Pietra dura (inlay of hardstones) with a ground of black slate, an exquisite bird made of lapis lazuli, malachite, quartz, granite, and others. Light wood box is covered in mottled green leather, embossed with gold, brass hinge. Base retains the original Florence label, as well as the embossed words, "Made in Italy." 4.25" (10.79 cm) side-to-side, 3.50" (8.89 cm) front-to-back, 2.25" (5.71 cm) tall, pietra dura oval is 2" x 1.50" (5.08 x 3.81 cm). Very good condition with one small repaired tear to the leather above the label (not pictured), and the Pietra dura completely intact, and wonderfully cut to fit. c. 1900-1935. $12 US Shipping. | |||||||||
