Rare mid-century Murano Art Glass bowl from the five-star "hotel created from a Palace," in Venice, Italy. Gilded around the rim is the hotel's full name at the time, "Hotel Royal Danieli Excelsior," although it is now called simply, "Hotel Danieli," and is one of the most luxurious and famous hotels in the World, with a vivid and rich history. The signature Murano bowl is transparent, very slightly green (it may fluoresce under black light, but we do not guarantee), thick blown glass, replete with bullicante, which are evenly spaced bubbles, graduated in size from very tiny at the center, to larger and larger bubbles to the rim. Throughout this bowl, exemplary genuine gold dust abounds, attesting both to the exquisite luxury of both the region's Murano Island glass, and the hotel created from a palace. It measures 3.875" (9.84 cm) diameter, and nearly 2" (5.08 cm) tall. Excellent condition with only wear to the base, and some rubbing to the rim gilding. c. 1950s. $12 US Shipping. |
