| Large, amber Decanter made in Murano, Italy, possibly by Salviati, although the style has been produced by most of the major Venetian glass houses. The style imitates that of the 19th Century, with the brilliant gold, quite large, Lion Mask center and pinched into the body of the decanter. Both sides are exactly the same, with the center mask. Note the lion prunts meet, back-to-back, inside of the decanter, and the wine would flow around and under the interior masks. When the lighting is "just right," the amber shines through the eyes and mouth of the lions--striking. Tied up like a package, there is decorative rigaree at the attached base, two rows up the sides, around the throat, and at the neck, all with much gold. The ribbed stopper has a sharp pontil on the end; pontils are at the base, and inside of the decanter. Excellent condition, with several of the inclusive bubbles and creases inherent in Venetian glass. c. 1930-1950. $20 US Shipping. | ||||||||
