Guangxu Period Chinese Handpainted Vases Fencai Enamels
Very popular at their time of creation, 1875-1908, the Guangxu Period, these mirror image Chinese Vases were perfect for western symmetrical decorating of the era, and they were well fitting for ritual use on Asian ancestor's altars.

Much symbolism in the details of these vases include the fo dogs/lions as small handles on each side, the dragons or lizards which surround the shouders, the fencai enamels which also include one character wearing a famille rose costume, and the crackle glaze. Characters on the base state, "Chenghua Nian Zhi." They measure 8" (20.32 cm) tall, base is 2" (5.08 cm) diameter, rim is nearly 2.5" (6.35 cm) diameter. Both vases are in excellent, undamaged condition. c. 1875-1908. $18 US Shipping. [note: the vases do not lean; this is an illusion of the camera.] [see Newsletter, left menu, for Cyber Monday pricing]
