| An exquisite treasure is likely from the village of Palekh in Russia, one of four villages where the ancient fairytales are painted onto boxes. The miniature painting is well known, as a "troika," a three-horse drawn sleigh or carriage. It is of three very fanciful horses, a driver cracking the whip, in long coat with huge fur collar, and two sleigh passengers tightly bundled in fur. The signatures are shown in our photos. A gilded border surrounds the painting, the lid, and the lower portion of the box. Oval, 4.75" x 3.25" x 1.625" (12.06 x 8.25 x 4.12 cm). Excellent condition. $8 US Shipping. | |||||||
