Impressionist Oil Painting Laurence Platt 1900-1972
Landscape in impressionist oil palette of greens, blues, aquas, pinks, lavenders, on canvas panel, by noted 20th Century American Artist, Laurence Platt, (1900-1972). A bonus is that the artist also carved, gilded and custom-painted many of his frames, and we belive this is one of those frames, which perfectly accompanies the painting. The stillness of beginning sunrise finds geese flying over a private pond, with house and outbuildings in the background. One can imagine the slow, quiet awakening of the household and the surrounding flora and fauna, and almost hear the soft "quack" of the geese overhead. The canvas measures 16" x 20" (40.64 x 50.80 cm), and the handcarved frame measures 24" x 28" x 1.75" (60.96 x 71.12 x 4.44 cm). c. 1945-1960. $50 US Shipping.

The Artist: Born in Missouri, 1900 and died in Tulsa, Oklahoma, 1972, at the age of 72. Self-taught artist who painted in his spare time most of his life, while working at regular jobs to support his family, and then upon retirement at the age of 65, was able to devote most of his time to his passion as artist; at one time owned a framing gallery; and always created his own hand-carved, and gold-leafed or gilded the frames for his paintings. His carving skills came from a background in woodworking. The artist won many awards throughout his lifetime, and had exhibits in Washington, Louisiana, New Mexico, Missouri, Texas, and Oklahoma.
