Moretti Salviati Murano Art Glass Pizzicati Velato Vase
Luscious, large contemporary Murano Art Glass Vase, created by Norberto Moretti for Salviati, in a series titled "Pizzicati". In Music pertaining to the violin family, Pizzicato indicates that the strings are to be plucked with the fingers. Pizzicati in Italian means, "pinched." Indeed, this lyrical vase is "pinched" at the rim, creating a lovely undulating shape, perfect for the display of the gold frieze decoration, which was applied in the oro graffito technique while the formed glass was still hot.

As if this were not enough to create a stunning glass display, the luxurious, velvety finish called "Velato" has been added by the application of a unique grinding process, entirely "by hand." It has been difficult to capture the deep red color of this piece, and we ask you to trust that it is absolutely lovely -- somewhere between deep cranberry and burgundy, depending on the available light.

The vase measures about 12.50" tall (31.75 cm), 10" wide (25.40 cm), 5" largest depth (12.70 cm). It is signed on the base, "Norberto Moretti for Salviati;" there is a small clear label near the rim; and it comes with its original Salviati Description and Care Booklet. c. Contemporary. Excellent Condition. $25 US Shipping.
