| Great old cottage sized fireplace Tool Stand, or small fender, displaying classic features of a center Mask, Corner Rams Heads, Dolphin-shaped Feet, and two swan sentries on either side of the mask; made in Hernals, a district of Vienna, Austria. Brass, with a recently added wooden liner, making the fender useful as a decorative object for holding books, vases, perhaps a green plant, or certainly remove the wood and use it as it was originally intended at the fireplace. Raised brass tag on the reverse reads: "Geschutzt, IG.H.S., Hernals". Roman numerals are hand-etched on the base, "VIII," and raised pattern number, "67," near the factory tag. 23" x 8.5" tall (58.42 x 21.59 cm), 7.75" (19.68 cm) deep. Excellent condition with only light surface rust, completely removable, although it adds much to the age and attractiveness of the piece. Quite heavy. c. 1900-1930. $50 US Shipping. | |||||||||
