Vintage Italian 36-piece mouthblown glassware Set for use in serving elegant desserts, or as originally intended with the underplate holding the fingerbowl at a formal dinner. All pieces are a pale topaz, with just a hint of apricot in the coloring. The set includes service for ten in the plate, bowl, and goblet, plus a Red Wine Aerator and a White Wine Carafe. We include four extra backup pieces -- another goblet and three bowls. The short-stemmed wine or water Goblet is 6.25" tall, 3" diameter rim, 3.25" diameter attached dome foot, with large ball knop; deep well underplates measure 7.50" x .75" tall; bowls are 4.50" diameter, just over 2" tall. Goblet has folded rims. Red Wine Aerator -- a devise for exposing wine to the air, allowing it to "breathe," and a fascinating way of pouring the wine through any one of the three side spouts. As long as the container is not filled more than about half-full, the spouts do not compete when pouring. Another function of this unusual serving vessel is for use in serving Wine Punch, or "punzone del vino" in Italian. Measures about 7.75" tall, 10.25" diameter base, 3.25" center opening rim diameter. Six-sided Wine Carafe measures 9.25" tall, 4.50" base diameter, 2.50" rim diameter. All pieces retain their original snapped pontil marks. All are in excellent condition, with slight mineral deposits in the Aerator. c. 1940-1970. $50 US Shipping. |
