Le Tallec Baron Jourdan Porcelain Box Paris France
Handpainted Le Tallec Porcelain Box, Powder Box, Casket, in the pattern, "Baron Jourdan en Bleu," Paris, France, Signed. The large, 1980-81 piece is complete with its original, satin-lined presentation box. The porcelain measures approximately 3.5" (8.89 cm) tall, nearly 4" (10.16 cm) diameter; and the presentation box is 5.5" x 6" x 3.75" (13.97 x 15.24 x 9.52 cm); gold metal mounts with wreath and ribbon catch.

PATTERN HISTORY: Baron Jourdan is one of the most important, as well as one of the most famous of the Le Tallec designs. In the 18th Century Baron Jourdan was a member of the board of Sevres, and he requested one of the Sevres designers to paint an exclusive pattern for himself and his family. The Le Tellac pattern was developed in light blue, green, and pale yellow grounds, based upon the original, 18th Century Sevres pattern. The flowers in each basket are the Baron's favorite flowers. [pattern history comes from the book on Le Tallec Porcelain, written by Keith & Thomas Waterbrook-Clyde]

Our piece is handpainted onto the blue background, and has raised gilding as part of the enameling. With only some minor oxidation to the metal, this piece is in superb, near-original condition. c. 1980 or 1981. $16 US Shipping. [see our Item 2602 for more Le Tallec]
